We are looking for a Geospatial Specialist to join our team!

Working with the Supervisor, Technical Services, within the Airport Planning & Engineering Department, the Geospatial Specialist is responsible for managing Edmonton Airports’ Geographic Information System (GIS). The role is accountable for ensuring data integrity, system functionality, and user access. The Geospatial Specialist leads the development and implementation of maps, apps and spatial analysis tools while coordinating and executing GIS related projects and tasks.

• Operate and maintain the Technical Services Geographic Information System (GIS). This includes improving data and systems and making recommendations for development.
• Lead the development and maintenance of geospatial standards, including mapping standards, data models, metadata, and quality assurance processes. Develop training materials to provide technical assistance and training regarding the use of GIS tools and applications for internal and external users.
• Lead the design and deployment of GIS applications. Identify, promote and implement service improvement opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness to all Edmonton Airports business units.
• Work with internal and external teams to acquire site data to feed back to the GIS systems, specifically the utility network to ensure that the department’s information is the source of truth for the organization and its contractors.
• Work with and coordinate with Edmonton Airports’ Asset Management team to integrate GIS technologies to Asset Management programs to improve efficiencies.
• Act as the subject matter expert and technical liaison between various Edmonton Airports departments and external consultants. Provide guidance and support to staff and stakeholders on geospatial data management and use.
• Assign permission levels and create user specific groups to access Edmonton Airports’ GIS System.
• Stay current with GIS and geospatial industry trends, best practices, and standards.

Special Requirements

• Completed post-secondary Bachelor’s degree related to Geography, Remote Sensing, Geographic Information System or other appropriate discipline.
• Geographic Information System Profession (GISP) designation considered an asset.
• 6+ years of related experience.
• Experience with ESRI software including product knowledge, maintenance and upgrades.
• Practical experience with spatial data modeling, validating, transforming and visualizing.
• Experience with server troubleshooting including creating and reviewing scheduled maintenance tasks and upgrades.
• Experience with Asset Management software integration.
• Experience designing and deploying geospatial mobile applications for ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, Smartforms, Dashboards and StoryMaps.
• Experience with survey data, LIDAR and Aerial Photos.
• Ability to effectively facilitate meetings and communicate across diverse technical backgrounds.
• Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills with the ability to present information in a concise, clear, and articulate manner.
• Ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple projects and adapt quickly to change and realign business priorities.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) with the ability to create various types of technical reports, memos and presentations, as well as other documents such as meeting agenda and minutes.
• Ability to secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and acceptable criminal records check.
