WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

· We are looking for a Banquet Manager to join our Banquets team here at the Renaissance!
· This position is a permanent full time salaried position for a minimum of 40 hours a week

POSITION PROFILE

The Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel is proud to house some of the best meeting space in the Edmonton area. This expansive meeting space will be overseen by a Dynamic Banquet Manager who is responsible for managing all functions within all of the different components of the facility. With over 20,000 sqft of meeting space and REN Meeting platforms, the Banquet Manager will have a challenging and fulfilling role overseeing Edmonton’s newest and elite functions space.

CORE RESPONSIBILITY

Effective sales skills to up-sell products and services
Manages all banquet facilities, staff, and delegates assignments according to business demands
Works in conjunction with the Outlets Manager, Bar Manager, and Director of Beverage and Food
Knowledge of menu planning, food presentation, and banquet and event service operations
Broad understanding of facility management (sanitation, maintenance and operations)
Knowledge of overall hotel operations as they affect department
Knowledge of purchasing, inventory controls, supplies and equipment
Financial management skills e.g., ability to understand P&L statements, manage operating budgets, forecasting and scheduling
Strong communication skills (verbal, listening, writing)
Effective conflict management skills
Strong customer and associate relation skills
Effective coaching and development skills
Ability to use standard software applications and hotel systems
Good presentation and platform skills
Ability to effectively manage labor productivity
Sets goals and delegates tasks to improve departmental performance. Monitors progress and leads discussion with staff each period.
Projects supply needs for the department, (e.g., china, glass, silver, buffet presentations, props). Manages departmental inventories and maintains equipment.
Uses banquet beverage Use records to control liquor costs and manage the banquet beverage perpetual inventory.
Applies knowledge of all laws, as they relate to an event.
Conducts monthly department meetings with the Banquet team.
Applies and continually broadens knowledge of food and wine pairings and cutting edge cuisine with emphasis on current event trends.
Schedules banquet service staff to forecast and service standards, while maximizing profits.
Assists team in developing lasting relationships with groups to retain business and increase growth.
Maintains established sanitation levels.
Adheres to and reinforces all standards, policies, and procedures

Special Requirements

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area.
Or a two year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional area.
