Edmonton Airports is seeking a skilled Data Architect to join our team. We are looking for the successful person to conduct an evaluation our current data environment to recommend where we can improve. You will work with our internal business teams to transform their data needs and ideas into reality. You will participate in the definition of and the implementation of the organization’s core data infrastructure and standards. You will assume ownership and responsibility for data accuracy, completeness, consistency, integrity of the data and contribute to multiple technical projects at one time.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Provide vision and oversight of the Data Architecture function including Business & IT Architecture
•Develop and communicate data architecture technical guidance, design patterns, standards, and collaborate with Digital and IT project stakeholders in the development and evaluation of data architecture-compliant technical solutions
•Engineer flexible and scalable data repositories which allow EIA to leverage their information for improved planning and decision making
•Provide consultation and guidance to EIA and Infrastructure development projects to fit systems to data framework
•Review the technical architecture from a security, accessibility, data integrity, and availability points of view
•Present an aggregate view of the overall data architecture to high level management
•Work closely with business stakeholders on data strategies including SQL, CRM, master data management, data governance, data quality, data security and reporting and analytics
•Prepare documentation for design review, architecture review and team standards.
•Present and communicate complex ideas and features to a broad audience effectively.
•Provide technical leadership and guidance for vendor evaluations and interactions.
•Research new technologies and methodologies and apply them to our environment to empower internal customers and scale the existing platform.
•Be passionate about using data to solve business problems.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline preferred.
•Preferred TOGAF certification. Zachman, DoDAF, FEAF certifications is also preferred
•Core technology background (in areas such as data modeling, database design, SQL, data visualization, working with unstructured data, data warehousing, BI etc.)
•Strong understanding of Service oriented architectures
•5+ years of Data Architecture and/or Data Strategy experience
•Demonstrated experience with full life-cycle software applications development
•Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to interact with other departments and business users who are not as technical in nature
•Ability to understand system functionality, process, and architecture at a technical and business level
