Is This Role for You?
Reporting to the Director, Digital and Corporate Communications, the Signage and Graphic designer summer student will support our airport’s compliance to the Official Languages Act and will help to ensure our terminal signage and other areas of our business have both English and French correctly executed in design. The successful candidate understands foundational design principles and has a history of strong design and layout outcomes.
Day in The Life
You might be wondering what you can expect in a typical day at work. Every day will bring new opportunities, focusing on key responsibilities, including:
• Develop digital and static signage that complies to OLA with design, consultation with a signage designer and an official French interpreter
• Produce strong and clear signage plans for the internal clients and the signage installers
• Plan installations with correct notification to all effected parties and minimal impact to passengers
• Follow set signage templates and align to brand standards and guidelines.
• Provide excellent customer service for internal clients with signage needs in the terminal
• Contribute to @flyeia social media channels with ad design in both English and French
• Coordinate and execute other design needs such as strong campaign design including contesting, promotional giveaways
• Collaborate in partnership with other entities on opportunities to promote YEG.
Special Requirements
You Have:
• Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
• Successful candidate must be a student currently enrolled in a post-secondary program or registered to attend one in the fall. Transcript or proof of enrollment must be provided with submission of application.
• Preference will be given to candidates in a related field such as: Marketing or Communications,
• Solid understanding of WordPress CMS for website work
• Strong online skills on social media channels: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Linked In and TikTok
• Valid Alberta Driver’s License with a clean driving record and ability to use personal vehicle
• Ability to work well as a team member and independent with minimal supervision
• Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and is outgoing and sociable
• Ability to take initiative and work productively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Creative thinker, enthusiastic and positive energy
• Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and an acceptable criminal record check
