Description
The Manager of Aerodrome, Field & Mobile Operations reports to the Director of Aerodrome Operations, Safety & Compliance and is part of the Aerodrome Operations management team. This role is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient management of all aerodrome activities at Edmonton International Airport, leading a team of operational staff, while ensuring compliance with aviation regulations, safety standards, relevant policies and procedures.
The manager will coordinate field operations, including runway maintenance, mobile operations acquisition and maintenance, and other related initiatives, while collaborating with all relevant partners. This position will be responsible for developing and implementing operational plans and safe work practices for both airside and ground-side activities, with a focus on fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

• Supervise, train, and mentor operational staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Manage Aerodrome, Field, and Mobile operations, ensuring compliance with Transport Canada regulations, safety standards, and airport procedures and policies.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, including Transport Canada, Nav Canada, internal and external airport partners, to ensure seamless operations and adherence to regulatory requirements.
• Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for field and mobile operations, assess performance, and implement improvements.
• Stay updated on technological advancements in aerodrome operations; field and mobile and integrate new tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation related to aerodrome operations, incidents, and inspections, preparing reports for management and regulatory bodies as required.
• Provide input to the Director of Aerodrome Operations, Safety & Compliance on departmental safety and compliance plans.
• Develop, implement and review business plans within the context of the Operations business plan, including mission, vision, strategic positioning, and resource planning.
• Identify and manage budget requirements for the provision of Aerodrome, Field & Mobile Operations, including contracted services.
• Build and maintain a high-performing team, overseeing staffing levels, recruitment, retention and development.
• Ensure adequate staffing and equipment to meet regulatory requirements, accounting for seasonal variations in resources.
• Develop and implement the Aerodrome, Field & Mobile Operations Safety Management Program, including safe work procedures, incident investigations, safety protocols, and regular monitoring.
Special Requirements
• Post secondary education with concentration in business or airport operations, or related experience.
• Minimum 5 years of managerial experience with proven experience in airport or aerodrome operations.
• Experience in mobile asset operations, airside operations, and equipment asset management.
• Proven experience in budgeting and business planning
• Strong knowledge of Transport Canada regulations, airport safety protocols, and operational standards, with the ability to comprehend and implement regulatory requirements (e.g. TP312, AOM, SMS Manual, Advisory Circulars, Nav Canada).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a RAIC, Class “D” License at CYEG and an Industry Canada issued Radio License.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with strong attention to detail for ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by airport operations.
• Proven leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and develop diverse teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze operational issues, make informed decisions and implement effective solutions for operational efficiency.
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, managing emergencies or unexpected situations.
• Familiarity with airport management software and mobile equipment.
• Ability to secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and acceptable criminal record check is required.
