Airfield Electrician

Description

As the Airfield Electrician, you are accountable for the installation, preventative/reactive maintenance and troubleshooting of apparatus (airfield and groundside lighting, generators, and plugs) specific to the Edmonton International and Villeneuve Airports. This includes sourcing parts and completing repairs in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

You might be wondering what you can expect in a typical day at work. Every day will bring new opportunities, focusing on key responsibilities, including:
• Provides input, identifies hazards and participates in safety toolbox talks, monthly safety meetings and job hazard assessments.
• Inspects, installs and repairs airfield electrical equipment.
• Executes preventative work orders assigned to maintain and repair airfield lighting, outside lighting, obstruction lighting, and emergency generators.
• Responds to reactive maintenance requests and repair as necessary.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment failures efficiently and accurately, then repair as necessary.
• Provides assistance and guidance to the other airfield electricians with Edmonton Airports to support a cross functional team environment.

Special Requirements

• Successful applicant must have a Red Seal Electrician Journeyperson certification, preference will be given to the candidate that has Airfield maintenance experience.
• Working knowledge of constant current regulated airfield series circuits and diesel generated back up power systems.
• Demonstrated experience working with high voltage 1000V-5kV.
• WHMIS, TDG, Forklift, aerial platform, fall protection, Arc Flash, First Aid certifications.
• Proven safety leadership to ensure departmental compliance with SOG’s, safe work practices and policies is required.
• Successful candidate needs excellent customer service and effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
• Ability to secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance, Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit, and criminal record check is required
