The Financial Analyst is a key representative of the Real Estate team and contributes to establishing and maintaining long-term collaborative stakeholder relationships. They act as a trusted business partner and key contributor with the Real Estate & Properties team.
Reporting to the Manager, Real Estate & Properties, the Financial Analyst is responsible for providing analytical support for monthly and annual financial reporting. This individual will assist in generating monthly financial duties and ensuring accuracy and timeliness. They will also help produce ad-hoc reporting. The successful candidate possesses leadership and communication skills to complement their technical skills.

Day in The Life
You might be wondering what you can expect in a typical day at work. Every day will bring new opportunities, focusing on key responsibilities, including:
• Understand source and flow of all financial and statistical data and ensure integrity and accuracy of data.
• Work closely with subject matter experts in other teams to develop and continuously improve reporting and help translate business needs into impactful reporting.
• Staying at the forefront of new system features and technologies.
• Helping to maintain financial reporting systems, including developing, improving and testing.
• Perform an integral role in the monthly close process by preparing reconciliations, working papers and preparing and posting journal entries.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors.
• Contribute to monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports and financial statements.
• Act as the central liaison between the corporate finance team and operational business units.
• Identify areas of inefficiencies in monthly, quarterly and annual processes and offer solutions to improve efficiencies.
• Maintain proper training documentation, and cross training with team members to provide vacation coverage.
• Adhere to procedures, policies, internal controls, and external financial accounting standards.
• Contributes to the ongoing development of systems and processes, identifies improvement opportunities, and develops actionable solutions.

Special Requirements

You Have:
• Degree or diploma in Business/Commerce/Accounting/Finance
• CPA designation is considered an asset.
• A minimum of 3+ years of full cycle accounting experience.
• Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Excel and intermediate experience with other MS Office based applications (e.g. PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Understanding of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Experience working with ASNPO or ASPE is an asset.
• Experience with a monthly close cycle and preparation of financial statements is an asset.
• Strong analytical capabilities, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and efficiently.
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
• Effective at managing multiple projects and tasks of varying complexities, meeting deadlines and working well under pressure.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Adaptable and eager to learn new systems. Experience with Caseware and MS Dynamics AX considered an asset.
• Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships; team player
• Must secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and acceptable criminal records check.
