WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Are you a bold, driven chef who’s ready to lead, inspire, and bring serious flavor to the pass? The Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel is searching for a Sous Chef to bring leadership, creativity, and consistency to our kitchen—and help us turn every plate into an experience.
You’ll work side-by-side with the Executive Chef to guide the culinary team, shape the menu, and set the pace in a high-energy kitchen where passion, professionalism, and attention to detail matter. Whether you’re perfecting a sauce, leading the line, or mentoring your crew—this role is for someone who’s serious about food, proud of their craft, and ready to make an impact.
This is a permanent full-time salaried position paying $60,000 per year.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOB
As a Sous Chef, you're more than just second-in-command—you're a leader who helps drive the culinary vision forward. From inspiring the team to executing high-volume services, you'll play a hands-on role in every part of the kitchen.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
• Lead by Example – Oversee kitchen operations with confidence and clarity, ensuring consistency in taste, presentation, and pacing.
• Mentor the Team – Train and guide cooks with a hands-on approach, building skill, confidence, and collaboration across the line.
• Menu Innovation – Work closely with the Executive Chef to craft exciting, seasonal dishes that reflect our brand and impress our guests.
• Own the Execution – Manage day-to-day prep and service, ensuring smooth flow during peak hours and flawless execution for events and catering.
• Set the Standard – Maintain the highest level of cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation throughout all kitchen areas.
• Keep it Running – Monitor kitchen equipment and tools to ensure functionality, reporting and resolving issues as needed.
• Adapt & Problem Solve – Stay cool under pressure, respond quickly to changes, and keep service running smoothly, no matter what’s on the line.

Special Requirements
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE CONSIDERED
Education & Experience
• Red Seal Certification in the Culinary Arts – Required
• High school diploma or GED + 2-3 years’ experience in a culinary leadership role
• Previous experience in a hotel kitchen, fine dining restaurant, or high-end catering environment is a strong asset.
REQUIRED SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
